What to Bring to Camp

Please be sure that all of your camper’s belonging are marked clearly with his/her name!

Flashlight
Bible / pen / notebook
Sleeping bag or sheets for a twin bunk bed/ pillow
Comfortable clothes – mainly shorts and t-shirts, couple pair of jeans for cool evenings
Extra pair of shoes
Jacket and/or sweatshirt
One-piece swimsuit / Beach towel / Beach shoes
Bath towels / Washcloth / Personal Items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush) – Please only send items that are not highly valuable; although counselors encourage campers to stay organized and clean, often items are left behind or even arrive home well used.
Water bottle

History of Lamoka Lake

North of Lamoka Lake is another lake called Waneta Lake (previously known as “Little Lake” or “Green Lake”) which is linked to Lamoka Lake by a short channel. Waneta is supposedly a native term for “Green Lake.” Both Lamoka Lake and Waneta Lake are east of Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. However, they are not part of the Finger Lakes drainage system. While the Finger Lakes drain north into the St. Lawrence River system, Lamoka and Waneta Lakes drain south into the Cohocton River in the Susquehanna River system.

The lake is well-stocked with a variety of fish, including several species of panfish. Boat launching ramps are available for each lake.

Camp Lamoka is a special safe environment where young people come to enjoy themselves and learn to grow both physically and spiritually.

The experience is one that they will remember for their whole life. The games and activities are designed to help them grow in all aspects of life with special emphasis on spiritual things.

Camp Lamoka goes year round

15 years ago the camp embarked on a journey to go from a summer camp to a year round facility. That journey consisted of:

1. Cabin work. re wire electric, new insulation, new walls, new beds and mattresses and most new roofs while still maintaining the building and its rustic look.

2. Installing bathrooms in the dining hall and giving it a new coat of paint inside

3. All the buildings were given a special stain treatment to preserve the wood siding and help prevent bees from nesting.

4. Kitchen facilities upgraded and enlarged

5. Chapel make over including platform direction, padded pews added and electric lighting upgrade.

6. The program added paint ball and a fourty foot climbing wall that encourages weekend use all year round.

7. In response to NY State law, we added a thirty thousand dollar water treatment system to ensure drinking water safety.

8 The addition of a game room in a part of the craft barn that was being used for a storage place.

9. The building of a directors home so they can live on site year round to create, manage and oversee operations.

10. The addition of facebook, the website you are currently on and e-mail updates to keep you informed of the ongoing progress of this great ministry.
